PREZ SEZ September edition 2026
By Terry Rogers
OK, so maybe I didn’t get it quite right.
My summer letter stated that it would be the last version that would be printed on paper and mailed to the membership. Well, here we are again, with a printed and mailed version. What’s up anyway?
The back story about why we are transitioning to an Internet-based communication format is related to three issues. The first has to do with money.
It just costs less to provide our members with the monthly newsletter if it doesn’t have to be printed or mailed.
The second issue has to do with membership itself. As we reach out to prospective new members, we are expecting and hoping that many of them will be in the younger age group. This is a cohort that uses their phones and computers to manage their affairs, finding it more efficient to search and click. This means that membership can be managed in a database, which can be linked to our financial tracking system.
The third issue has to do with both membership and financial issues. The two people who have overseen these facets of the organization wish to step down after many years of dedicated involvement. Carol Rippey and Gloria Kristovich have served in a quiet but extremely effective way for many years and we are all grateful for their work on behalf of the Society.
So, the time is now to make changes that will ensure the viability and sustainability of the Society for the future. Please be patient with us as we make these changes, all of which are designed to keep things going for as long as we can. Of course there will be challenges, but we can work through them. The music is what keeps us going. It is what keeps us all involved. I hope that you agree.
In the meantime, please renew your membership for the year. It is easy to do on the website, www.pstjs.org. Click on membership, put in your information and that’s it. Your continued support is necessary and very much appreciated.
See you on the 20th of September. Great band, great music. And yes, you can dance!
